What does peer review mean?
Answer
What does Peer Review mean?
When an article from a scholarly journal is peer reviewed it means that a board of scholarly reviewers in the subject area of that journal review articles for quality of research and adherence to editorial standards of the journal. For an article to be accepted for publication, it must pass that peer review process.
If you use materials from peer reviewed publications, they have been vetted by scholars in the field for quality and importance.
Peer reviewed versus Scholarly Articles
For our purposes, "peer reviewed articles" and "scholarly articles" mean the same thing. Your professor might call them something else as well, so be sure to ask if you have any questions.
