How to access Kanopy videos
How you access Kanopy videos depends on both whether you are on or off campus, and whether you are using a computer or a mobile (phone or tablet) device.
Using a computer (laptop or desktop) while on campus
If you are using a computer that is connected to the campus Wi-Fi network you should be able to watch videos:
- Go to the Library Databases (then you can go to the databases that start with "K")
- Clicking on the Kanopy link
This will authenticate you as a Mt. SAC user (since you are on the campus Wi-Fi), and you should be able to access the videos.
(If you want to create an account and go to the Kanopy website and log in using that account see below.)
Using a computer (laptop or desktop) from off campus
If you are using a computer that is not on the campus Wi-Fi network, you will follow the same steps, but will need to autheticate:
- Go to the Library Databases (then you can go to the databases that start with "K")
- Clicking on the Kanopy link
- Use your Portal username and password to authenticate as a Mt. SAC user
You should now be able to view Kanopy videos.

Using a mobile device (phone or tablet)
If you want to use a mobile device, whether you are on the campus Wi-Fi network or not, you will need to download the Kanopy app for your device. Go to the app store for your device and search for Kanopy.
After downloading/installing the app, you will need to create a Kanopy account (see below) and then log in.
How to create a Kanopy account
If you want to watch Kanopy videos on a mobile device or just want to be able to go to the Kanopy website and log in to view videos you have access to, you can do so by creating a Kanopy account.
The easiest way to do this is to:
- Go to the Library Databases (then you can go to the databases that start with "K")
- Clicking on the Kanopy link
- Use your Portal username and password to authenticate as a Mt. SAC user (if you are off campus)
- Click the person icon in the upper right and choose to create an account
- Use your Mt. SAC email address and password of your choice and follow the steps to finish creating an account
Once you create an account, you should be able to log into the app on your mobile device and also go directly to the Kanopy website and log in to access the videos you have access to through the Mt. SAC Library. Note that if you have access to Kanopy from another library, you can add that library to your Kanopy account.
